Maine Water Utilities Scholarship Fund (MWUSF) is now a 501(c)(3)!

On behalf of the Maine Water Utilities Scholarship Fund (MWUSF) I have the privilege of announcing a scholarship opportunity to college students interested in the environmental sciences and drinking water industry. The MWUSF was established as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation to administer several scholarship opportunities for college students. The scholarships include:

Judy Wallingford Scholarship: sponsored by the Maine Water Company in recognition of Judy Wallingford’s distinguished career of service to Maine water customers and communities. This scholarship is for a female student enrolled in a secondary education program related to the water works profession

Madeline A. Storer and Peter A. Lancaster Scholarships: sponsored by the Maine Water Utilities Association and its supporting members, these scholarships commemorate the life and work of two notable water utility professionals. Students who are enrolled in a secondary educational institution with an interest in pursuing a career in the water or wastewater field are eligible.

Click Here for more information and the application. The application deadline is December 1st, 2017. We would greatly appreciate if you could help us spread the word and share this information with your past interns or college students and/or faculty you know who could help encourage interest in both the drinking water profession and the scholarships.

As the president of the MWUSF I would appreciate any questions, suggestions, or comments that you have. We’re continuously looking for new ideas to grow the fund and better understand and assist the future leaders of the drinking water industry.

Thank you for your time and assistance.

 Best wishes,

Helen Newman, PE, ENV SP
