Water Service Technician – Searsport Water District
The Searsport Water District has an immediate opening for a full-time Water Service Technician. This position is under the general supervision of the Foreman and Superintendent. The Water Service Technician performs all functions necessary to ensure the safe and efficient operations of the public water system. Duties include, but are not limited to, the installation, maintenance, repair, relocation, retirement, testing and operations of the water distribution system and related structures. Reading, installing and repairing water meters together with ground operations, maintenance and operation of all pumping stations and treatment facilities are also included.
The Searsport Water District has a very competitive health insurance benefit package and also participates in the Maine Public Employees Retirement System. Normal hours of operations are from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Once trained, the Water Service Technician will also be required to rotate weekend duties with the current on-call personnel. The successful candidate must also possess strong communication skills, be detailed oriented and be willing to learn the operations of a backhoe and other district owned equipment.
Minimum qualifications include:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Valid State of Maine Driver’s license
- Demonstrated technical and mechanical skills through past work experience
- Familiarity with materials and methods used in the operation and maintenance of water utility facilities.
- Successful completion of a criminal background check.
- Ability to acquire a State of Maine Class II Water Distribution and Treatment Operators license within 2 years of employment.
