On March 22 nd , 2022, our profession lost a meaningful contributor and member. Albert Hodsdon, III passed away. Al’s passion for all things water and wastewater may have been matched by others but rarely was his passion exceeded.
Al founded AE Hodsdon Engineering in the 70’s. He oversaw much of the work the company was engaged in with his wife, Jill, for decades. Sadly, Jill passed away a couple of years ago, but Al continued to mange the firm he started until just a few months ago when he sold the firm to several of his long-term employees.
Mr. Hodsdon was on the board of the Kennebec Water District for several years serving several terms in several positions. He was also affiliated and served on other professional boards with many other organizations within the state.
In recent years Al reached out to MWUA and asked how he could better support our association. Brian McGuire, the President of MWUA at the time, shared our goals and capital projects with him. Without hesitation he contributed over a $100,000.00 for MWUA to achieve several of those initiatives.
Last December Mr. Hodsdon was elected to MWUA Board of Directors. Due to health issues, he was never able to attend any board meetings and early in February he decided to resign from the board because of his declining health issues. Mr. Hodsdon a friend, mentor, supporter, and gentlemen to all, will be missed but not soon forgotten.
Rest in peace our friend!
Funeral arrangements will follow.
