2023 Maine Water Utilities Summer Outing Recap

Maine Water Utilities Association and Maine Water Environment Association’s Annual Summer Outing was held on Thursday, August 10, 2023, at the Cumberland Fairgrounds in Cumberland, Maine. We had great weather for the outing this year. We had twelve exhibitors at the conference and over 200 people in attendance.

The day started off with training by Chandler Smith from E.J. Prescott on Excavation Compliance and Heat Stress. Over 65 people attended the training.

This was followed by the Pipe Tapping Contest. We had two teams this year, Boothbay Region Water District’s Mud Dogs, who were the reigning champs and Maine Water Company’s Team Old School. The Mud Dogs were successful in holding onto their title with a time of 2.39.

There was a great turnout for the Cornhole Contest. After several rounds Ian Lane and Chris Gallant were crowned the 2023 Champions and received their belts!

These events were followed by a cookout with hamburgers, hot dogs, pulled pork, lobster, and steak with all the fixings. Of course, we can’t forget the delicious ice cream that Wright-Pierce dished out to all of us!

MWUA and MeWEA want to thank everyone for supporting this event. We hope to see everyone again at the 2024 Summer Outing.
