Maine Water Utilities Association’s Annual Golf Tournament was held on Wednesday, August 2, 2023, at the Val Halla Country Club in Cumberland, Maine. Attendees have been enjoying this event for 37 years! Nearly 100 MWUA members and sponsors took part in this outing.
The teams, which were lined up in their golf carts, parted ways to the various greens to begin the 9-hole scramble. Camaraderie and good sportsmanship ruled the day as the golfers cheered each other on. Whether a veteran or newcomer, a good time was had by all. There were hot dogs, hamburgers, and chips at the turn. At the end of the tournament, a buffet and award ceremony completed the day’s events.
Winners:
1st place – Team EJP Mike Pelkey, Porter Jervais Peter Sanders, and Josh McGuire with a 52.
2nd place – Team EJP Dan Burdin, Reid Pomerleau, Zach Chaput, and Dewayne Taylor with a 56.
3rd place – Team Tata & Howard Peter Goodwin, Keith Levasseur, Steve Cox, and Greg Leighton with a 59.
Last place – Team Searsport Herb Kronholm, Larry Clark, Bruce Mills and Kirsten Poremby.
The Red Jacket was placed on Darrin Lary by last year’s recipient, Dan Burdin.
Longest Drive was won by Matt Rogue. Adam Yanulis got the closest to the pin.
The putting contest had another tie this year, Douglas (Tucky) Letellier from South Berwick Water District and Will Eisworth form American Concrete. Will Eisworth won the putt off.
