Included in this issue:
• Legislative Update
A new draft rule for PFAS was submitted May 21 to the Maine state legislature
by the DWP.
• Monthly Billing
The potential benefits of billing customers monthly.
• Private Subdivision Water Lines
Things to consider when a private subdivision connects to a water utility.
• Solar Power: Dual Perspective
Both the DWP and PUC provide guidance to water systems on the use, placement,
and legal parameters of solar arrays and related leases.
• Sharing Tenant/Customer Information with Landlords
Utilities are not allowed to release tenant/customer information to a landlord unless
the landlord makes a request. Some information is confidential, not to be shared
without customer consent.
• Emergency Response Communications
Who to contact in the event of a drinking water emergency, and when.
Please note: Straight from the Tap has information for a variety of water systems, and not all of them are regulated by the PUC. Additionally, information provided by the DWP doesn’t necessarily apply to all water system types.
This newsletter is being sent to the primary operator and the administrative contact for every water system; please forward to any other interested parties.
