Why Attend Board Member Training?

Being asked to join a board is quite a compliment. It means the organization feels you have the knowledge or experience to bring a positive impact to the board. But perhaps you’ve never served on a board before or are an existing member but want to expand your knowledge.  If so, here are a few tips:

  • Learn more about the industry.  You’ll need to know how well competitors are doing to evaluate the performance of your organization
  • Learn about the company or organization.  You need to understand how it operates if you’re going to help guide its future.
  • Be clear about your role on the board. You’re there to represent your communities and to be a sounding board for management. The more you know, the better.

Need help with any (or all) of the above?  You’re not alone.  We’ve created the Board Member & Trustee Training for exactly that reason.

What’s included in the Board Member training?

  • Board Responsibilities
  • How to Champion the Mission
  • Governing Laws for Water Utilities
  • Water Utility Charters
  • The PUC and Regulatory Agencies
  • About the Maine CDC Drinking Water Program
  • Leadership Development
  • So much more!

The commitment is minimal–only 3 hours a month.  Classes are virtual or in-person at the MWUA office in Augusta.

Classes start on January 12 and registration is now open. To learn more about the topics, dates and more, click below.  Or if you’re ready to enroll, click here.  We look forward to having you join us! View Course Information
